Presidents Weekend: 3 full days of
Downhill Skiing/Snowboarding and XC Skiing/Snowshoeing,
in New England’s most celebrated ski town

Celebrate President's Weekend in Stowe! The combination of magnificent Mount Mansfield, the beauty of the Trapp Family Lodge and the old world charm of Stowe Village itself has beckoned guests to this mountain retreat for many years. With an average snowfall of 22 feet, the slopes in Stowe are typically blanketed in white from mid-December through April. And the cross-country trail system is unmatched in this country not only for size, but for beauty.

For the Downhill crowd, Stowe Mountain Resort offers the longest average trail length in the East. Mt. Mansfield, the highest peak in Vermont, is waiting for Snowboarders and Skiers with an 8-passenger gondola to some of the most challenging trails in Vermont. Beginners and intermediates might feel more comfortable on the slopes of neighboring Spruce Peak, only minutes away. Stowe is known as one of the best free riding mountains in America, but for some it's all about the half pipe and terrain park and Stowe delivers the goods for that crowd, as well.

The resort's Mt. Mansfield Touring Center offers cross-country skiing on 35 km of groomed terrain, 40 km of backcountry trails, and is interconnected with 3 other touring centers - 150 km of groomed terrain in all. You can enjoy an elegant lunch at the Toll House and, for the adventurous, free use of its chairlift. The scenic woods and meadows of the Trapp Family Touring Center are also a great favorite. Be sure to make the exhilarating trip (on skis or snowshoes) to ‘the Cabin’ where soup, sandwiches, hot chocolate and homemade cookies are savored fireside. Or enjoy lunch at the Austrian Tea Room and find out why "the hills are alive with the sound of music".

Our home for the weekend is the Mountaineer Inn. Set on beautiful tree-studded grounds, bordered by a trout stream and deep woods, and in full view of Mount Mansfield, this inn combines the best of all worlds: comfort, modern facilities and old-fashioned Vermont hospitality. After skiing, enjoy the inn's large indoor heated swimming pool, sauna and 20-person hot tub, or relax in front of the fireplace in either the upstairs lounge or the downstairs bar. The dining room serves hardy and plentiful breakfasts and dinners allowing us to make the most of each ski day. As if all this weren't enough, The Mountaineer Inn is just a few minutes by trolley ride from the Mountain and the center of the historic village of Stowe, with its white-steepled churches, quaint general stores, antique shops and boutiques. You can travel with our group or plan a day on your own using the town trolley to go back and forth.

On Saturday night we’ll take the more energetic of the group to the Rusty Nail, a longtime favorite for locals as well as out-of-towners. But don’t over do it – you’ve got two more days of skiing ahead of you.

This three day trip is the quintessential mid-winter New England ski getaway.

$465 per person includes bus transportation from NYC, three nights lodging (double occupancy), 3 breakfasts and 2 dinners at the hotel. Lift/trail passes are NOT included.
