Killington (one of the country’s major winter resorts) offers more terrain, more variety, more lifts and more snow than any other area we visit. And there are great terrain parks (with jumps, rails and boxes) for every level. Being relatively close to New York means a shorter trip each way, and lodging at the resort means more time to enjoy the snow.
Cross-country skiers and snowshoers will enjoy the trails at nearby Mountain Top and Mountain Meadows. These two XC Ski centers offer well groomed trails, excellent lessons and rental equipment and some of the best snow in the area. And the Mountain Top Inn serves a superb lunch in an elegant setting. Mountain Meadows, bordering Killington, gives you some freedom to explore more of the resort.
We stay at the Mountain Inn – a deluxe lodge on the Killington access road, just a short ride from the lifts at the Snow Shed base lodge. Those wanting to start or end their day at any of the other bases can use the free shuttle bus to get to and from our Inn. The shuttle will also take you up and down the access road so you can shop and enjoy the Killington nightlife. Since we are staying at the resort, you can come and go as you please.
Aside from the convenience of its location, our hotel has the comforts of a sauna and a heated outdoor pool. Each day starts with a hearty breakfast served in the downstairs dinning room. If you don’t feel like going out after skiing, you can relax in the hotel’s friendly bar/lounge, with a roaring fire and live music. The hotel’s Santa Fe Restaurant serves a fine dinner (not included in the trip price) in a South Western setting.
On Saturday night we will take the adventurous to the Wobbly Barn (Killington’s legendary hot spot), using our bus to go there and back. But if you feel restless and want to sample all that Killington offers, the free shuttle bus runs through the evening and can bring you to any of the many restaurants and bars found along the access road.
This trip offers the best combination of comfort, convenience and fun – on the snow and off!
Price ($370 per person in 2007) includes bus transportation from NYC, two nights lodging (double occupancy), and 2 breakfasts at the hotel. Dinner and lift/trail passes are NOT included.
